#ATLBurgerWeek: George's Bar & Restaurant
I have no shame in admitting that I'm a Super Carnivore. If I could have some kind of beef (preferably steak) at every meal - I definitely would. Needless to say, when my coworkers shared with me that ATL Burger Week was a thing and quickly approaching - I suggested we eat at a new place every single day. I started a new chatroom where we could discuss restaurant options and take votes. Yes, it's that serious. (Quick note: ATL Burger Week includes 40 participating restaurants that offer one of their speciality burgers for $5. You should definitely get sides, an appitizer or something. AND TIP! Don't be a jerk).
I got sick over the weekend, so I was out of commission on Monday. I got a threatening text from the burg3r joint movement cofounder - totally understandable, though. So, Tuesday was the day to redeem myself and get in on this action.
My choice? George's Bar & Restaurant. They were offering the Buffalo Bleu Bacon Burger which had buffalo sauce, bleu cheese crumbles, bacon, lettuce & tomato. You had me at bacon.
You guys. To say this burger was delicious is an understatement. It was amazingly savory. There wasn't too much buffalo sauce, so it wasn't dripping messy and wasn't too spicy. Perfect amount of bleu cheese, so it didn't force you to rub your tongue across the roof of your mouth. It was perfect.
Obviously the only way to complement this burger is with Shirley Temples.
Anyway, this place has lots of other great things on the menu so you should check it out sometime. But, if you don't visit any other place for Burger Week or had no intention of participating at all - you should definitely give this burger a try. George's opens at 11:30 - so don't get there at 11 thinking you'll beat the crowd and have to hang out on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant like a creep. Not that we did that.
Wednesday? The Sucktopus @ Flatiron.
