Disclaimer: this is not what I would call a family friendly place. If you have small children that ask questions, I'm not sure you're going to want to answer questions about the artwork on the walls. If you've ever been there, you'll know why this is funny; if you haven't, take a visit. Without your curious little ones, though.
Now that that's out of the way. Let's talk about this burger. The Sucktopus: 1/2 lb of angus chuck, smoked habanero gouda cheese, chipotle coulis, fried onion strings, tomato & arugula. All of this goodness on a Challah Kaiser bun with butter (very important & delicious). With a side of tots - because why would you choose anything else!? And, if I'm being 100% honest, Tuesday's burger set the bar pretty high so I was a little let down.
If you read the post about cutting up spinach in the Breakfast Muffins! post you'll understand my irritation with this arugula and it's stems. I could never seem to get an entire piece in one bite which was super annoying. Then, it kept falling off. Blargh.
I also couldn't order it without onions. The waitress said it comes "as is" but - what if I was allergic to onions? You can't tell your line cook to not put them on? I don't understand. She did admit it was her first day - but c'mon. Really? I picked them off and ate the batter. It's what I always do with onion rings - so whatever.
Now, the real reason I picked this place was because of the chipotle coulis. I love anything chipotle flavored. I recently made some chipotle mayo to go atop a BLT on Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, but that's another post for another day. The first bite was too much! It was so concentrated and I didn't think I was going to be able to make it through the entire burger. I immediately downed almost half of my Shirley Temple. But, the more I ate - the better it got. Once I hit the cheese + chipotle coulis + burger + tomato combo further in, it was definitely well-balanced.
Overall, I'd probably give it a solid 7. Worth noting - if you planned to pick one of these up for your coworker, have a plan B. You can't get it to-go¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thursday? Bantam Pub for the Grilled Lamb Burger.
